TL;DR In collaboration with Sew Loka, I organized “Sew Rebellious: ACLU Fundraiser” during which I co-taught two back-to-back workshops to raise 2K in one day. Attendees learned sewing basics by making a one-of-one tote bag while contributing to social justice causes

This past February, Sew Loka hosted one of our most meaningful events to date. Sew Rebellious was a full day of creativity, community, and purpose — and every dollar raised went directly to the ACLU in support of immigrant rights.
Participants joined us for a tote bag making workshop, leaving with a handmade bag and an exclusive Sew Rebellious patch sewn on with their own hands. Throughout the day, our embroidery lounge was open for anyone who wanted to drop in, stitch, and connect — with coffee, beats, and poetry filling the studio from morning to close.
We set a goal of $2,000 and our community delivered. Every single dollar went to the ACLU, and we couldn't be more grateful to everyone who showed up, stitched with us, and made it happen.
